Ohio State Fair 2023: When is family discount day, senior day and more

One of the biggest events of the summer, the Ohio State Fair, is this week.

From July 26 to Aug. 6 at the Ohio Expo Center and State Fair, 717 E. 17th Ave. in Columbus, the fair will attract visitors looking to celebrate the Buckeye State.

General admission is $12 for adults ages 13-59, $10 for seniors 60 and older and children ages 6-12 and free for children ages 5 and younger, according to the state fair's website. Advance-sales tickets are $8 through Wednesday.

The fair offers many special days for discounts and free admission if you're looking for a way to attend this year's Ohio State Fair.

Aside from discounts, there are also other special days, including WOSU Kids Day, featuring PBS Kids characters, crafts, activities and more on Thursday; free health screenings and giveaways offered by Molina Healthcare on Saturday; and a sensory-friendly morning on Aug. 2.

If you attend the Ohio State Fair this year, here are five ways to save:

The Ohio State Fair is offering advance admission for $8 through Wednesday on Ticketmaster (a $2 discount). Midway ride-all-day wristbands are also being sold for $32 each through Wednesday (a $3 discount).

For "Telhio and Ronald McDonald House Charities Day" on Thursday, when you bring canned chicken or vegetable, disposable plates or silverware, napkins, paper towels, or condiments to a booth outside the admission gates, the donating participant will receive a buy one get one free voucher good for admission. The promotion is only available before 6 p.m. Donations support families at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio.

Sunday is "Veterans & Military Day" at the fair, but veterans and active military can receive free admission to any day of the Ohio State Fair, with necessary identification.

July 31 will be "NBC4 Family Discount Day," with discounts on adult tickets and wristbands, and all children getting free admission. Adult tickets will cost $10, the price for children 6-12, while all children 12 and under get in free. Ride-all-day wristbands will also be available to purchase for $18, from $35, until 5 p.m.

Seniors, including ages 60 and up, can receive free admission on Aug. 1. The promotion is available all day.
